How to Prepare for Your Sugaring Appointment
Your hair should be at least ¼ inch long (about the length of a grain of rice) for best removal results. If you shave regularly, this may take 1.5–2 weeks of growth before your appointment.
Appointment Prep:
Exfoliate skin 24-48 hours before your service
Ensure hair is long enough (¼ of an inch or the length of a grain of rice)
Make sure you are hydrated (we can always tell which clients are dehydrated because hairs are more prone to breakage vs coming out all the way from the root if not properly hydrated)
If you are really sensitive, consider taking a tylenol or advil 30 min before your service
Keep skin moisturized in the days leading up to appointment but don’t use any product the day of your service
Do a happy dance because you are so excited to be hairless!
Shower/bathe the day of your appointment to ensure your skin is free from natural bodily oils that make it trickier for the sugar to adhere to the hair.
Aftercare & Maintenance:
Avoid hot water for 12 hours
Avoid sweating or bodies of water for 24 hours to prevent bacteria entering into open follicles
Resume exfoliation routine 5-7 days after appointment
Moisturize daily
It’s recommended to avoid intercourse for 24 hours after a brazilian sugaring service

Planning Sugaring for a Vacation or Special Event
If you are planning for a vacation or special event, we recommend scheduling your sugaring 24-72 hours prior for the freshest results. Most people are usually hairless for 1.5-2 weeks and then it takes another 2-3 weeks of growth before your next appointment. We recommend having 3-4 sessions before your event or vacation to ensure that your hair-growth cycles can align for the smoothest results for your special occasion.
Can You Get Sugared During Your Period or Pregnancy?
You are welcome to come to your appointment if you are on your period, we are comfortable if you are. We just ask that you come to your appointment wearing a tampon or menstrual cup. Some experience more sensitivity when menstruating and some don’t. If you need to take a Tylenol or Advil, do so 30 minutes before the appointment.
Some also may experience more sensitivity if you are pregnant as your body’s blood flow increases significantly. However, it varies from person to person and is not a reason to avoid sugaring. In fact, getting sugared done while pregnant is such a lovely service to incorporate in your self-care routine especially when your belly grows to the point where you can’t see or reach down there anymore! Also, SO NICE to not have any hair when freshly postpartum during the healing period. It’s best to wait 6-8 weeks postpartum to resume sugaring routine especially if you’ve had a c-section.
Who Should Not Get Sugaring?
Be mindful of any contraindications you may have that could prevent you from getting sugared. Certain medications or ingredients like acids, retinol, accutane or anything with the side effect of skin-thinning will hinder your ability to get sugaring done anywhere from 1 week to 6 months. Also certain procedures like botox, laser or exfoliating treatments need time to heal before sugaring can take place.
Here are some common contraindications and windows of time before you can book a sugaring session:
Topical retinoids (e.g., Retin-A, retinol, Differin): 7 days
Accutane: 6 months
Chemical peels, microdermabrasion or laser: 2 weeks
Injectable treatments: 4 weeks
Acids in skincare products: 48 hours
If you are experiencing any sort of skin condition like eczema, psoriasis, a sunburn, rosacea, rashes etc. please consult your doctor to get clearance on sugaring. As well as if you are taking any medications, please research and understand if sugaring is a safe hair-removal option for you based on side effects of your medication.
If you haven’t tried sugaring yet and are feeling nervous about getting a brazilian, don't fret! We recommend trying a bikini sugaring for your first session, then for your second session book an extended bikini. By then, you will be ready to book a brazilian for your third session!
